If you’re an EU inhabitant, you don’t need a visa if you’re traveling to Spain. However, you do need a valid passport or an ID card to be able to identify yourself if needed. Due to the Schengen agreement only people from third world countries and people that have been rejected for a visa in one of the Schengen countries before, need a visa prior to traveling to Spain.

There are no mandatory or recommended vaccinations for Spain. If you’re visiting Melilla or Ceuta, watch out for rabies.

The costs of traveling in Spain, depends on the season you’re traveling in and the places you’re visiting. The budgets mentioned here are an average, the costs for daily life may be slightly higher or lower when you travel to Spain. The living costs in cities such as Barcelona or Madrid are a lot higher than in smaller villages.

The best time to travel

The summers in Spain are hot and dry. Perfect if you’re looking for a beach holiday, but it is often too hot for a city trip. Do you want to visit a Spanish city? Then it’s best to travel in April, May or October. The same thing goes for an active holiday. In winter, the temperature in the south of Spain and in the Canary Islands can also be excellent. Bear in mind that the temperatures and the amount of precipitation can vary greatly per area.
